Moving tips
  1. Start preparing well in advance. Good preparation is half the battle and a move often takes more time than expected.
  2. Provide sufficient help with moving or hire (extra) people.
  3. Arrange your administrative matters well in advance.
  4. Make sure that one person is in charge so that everyone does not mix up (and get in each other's way).
  5. Make sure you have a free parking space as close as possible to your address, as walking an extra 10 meters every time is very annoying. Also try to have a free parking space at your destination.
  6. Pack items per room. This way, all your belongings can quickly be put in the right place as much as possible at the new destination and you can quickly start unpacking.
  7. Make sure you know whether large pieces of furniture can be moved into the new location. Perhaps there is a need for a moving lift?
  8. Write on the box which room it should go to. You can also number boxes and create a list on your computer. Make sure you have access to your computer when you are at the new location!
  9. Provide enough food and drinks for the movers during the moving day.
  10. There are special wardrobe boxes to transport your clothes hanging, on hangers.
  11. Try to fill boxes with filling material so that items are not loose in a box, this prevents damage to your items.
  12. Distribute the weight in the boxes as much as possible. A well-spaced box is easier to pick up, carry and put down again.
  13. You can use (old) clothing as padding. You can also put glasses in your socks.
  14. Keep medications and valuables separate.
  15. Try to transport equipment in the original packaging and make sure you keep the cords with the equipment, this will save a lot of searching later. If necessary, tape them to the back of the device.
  16. Do not overfill a box so that it can tear or the bottom falls out.
  17. Make sure that the items you still need are not packed until the moving date!
  18. Make sure moving parts such as cabinet doors and drawers are secured and remain secured. It's a shame if your new cupboard in the stairwell suddenly loses the drawers.
  19. Do not use tape to close your cabinets. It's a shame if the paint comes off your doors at the new location.
  20. Make sure you keep necessary clothing and medicines aside for 1 or 2 days. Often not everything can be found in your new home on the first day. This prevents searching and stress.
  21. Protect the floor in the new home. A lot of people go from inside to outside and this can cause a lot of mess, especially in bad weather. It's a shame if your new light carpet is dirty at the end of the moving day.
  22. Make sure you keep screws and bolts from dismantled furniture together. If necessary, tape them to the dismantled furniture. You can also put them in bags and number them.
  23. Keep flammable items such as acetone and aerosol cans separate.
  24. Remove lampshades and place the light bulbs or LED bulbs in a separate box. Do not use newspapers to roll up a lampshade because newspapers can stain. Paper towels are a good alternative.
  25. Empty the refrigerator and ensure that shelves are either removed or taped down. Transport the refrigerator upright due to coolant.
